Have you ever seen the underside of Buddy Emmuns? They look a lot alike. _________________ Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night. |

Hi Billy,
Perhaps Bruce Zumsteg would have a record of how he positioned the cluster for John's Zumsteel C6th neck in his build records? Might be worth a try. _________________ The steel guitar is a hard mistress. She will obsess you, bemuse and bewitch you. She will dash your hopes on what seems to be whim, only to tease you into renewing the relationship once more so she can do it to you all over again...and yet, if you somehow manage to touch her in that certain magic way, she will yield up a sound which has so much soul, raw emotion and heartfelt depth to it that she will pierce you to the very core of your being. |

Billy, if I'm not mistaken John's last 2 Legrandes went to Forum members. I'm pretty sure one's in the Kingsport TN area.
John had a ton of guitars down thru the years. No telling what changes he experimented with.
One I had the privilege to play. Had the standard 5 pedals 4 knee's C6th set-up plus one pedal and one knee. The extra changes as I remember them.
String 5 down a whole tone. 10 string up a whole.
String 2 down a 1/2 String 6 up a 1/2
Also the traditional pedal 7 had a feel stop between the 4th string A to B.for the Bb note. Even though he had the A's to Bb's on a dedicated lever.
As for knee lever placement. I'm too foggy to say for sure.
Not much help I know. But maybe it will serve as a bump.
Good luck.

Billy, I have one of the last LeGrande III's that John owned or maybe even the last one, I'm not sure. Anyway it is black transparent lacquer, a beautiful guitar. In sun light it appears as a dark black cherry but under ordinary light it looks black. It does have the three lever cluster in the middle for C6th. I played it at the Baxter Springs show and it is still in my HHR but I can get some photos maybe this evening.

Hughey's LeGrande that now resides Kingsport,TN belongs to my picking buddy David Martin. He is a forum member. I am sure if you PM or email him he will be glad to help you out.
I will mention it to him also. _________________ mudstand.com

Dang Jerry. You been holding out on me? I didn't know you had that guitar. Seriously, it couldn't be in better hands.

Too bad Green and Emmons didn't use the Day setup. If they had, they might have had a successful career as steel guitarist! ![Laughing](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif) |
