Whether you like Dream Theater or not, there is a three-part video series they made about auditioning and choosing a replacement for founding drummer Mike Portnoy that's quite interesting regarding the way a modern, incorporated band makes decisions.

Thanks for posting David!
Ive been a fan of them for years. My friend in NYC was a guitar tech for JP when they were Majesty in L.I. before the fame and fortune of DT. I got to meet them a few times and was always inspired by their talent.
Looking forward to seeing how Mike M. fills the shoes worn by Mike P. for 25 years.

very interesting
i had never heard of them before so take that into consideration when i give my opinion
if i had to play those 3 audition tunes for 25 years i would choose a different profession which i did anyway
i think marco was way too talented for them and would have been on the mike train way before 25 years if they had picked him
but obviously a very successful group not decimated by drugs and a touching story
