Pete passed away at his home on Thursday Sept 22nd. He was a true friend to many. A lover of music especially the pedal steel guitar. He was always willing to offer help to a novice steel player like myself and many others. He was a great guy! Will be deeply missed. _________________ It's all about the music |

What a shock. Pete had just emailed me about where a Fender 400 pedal steel was for sale. He knew I was looking for him. What a great fellow. He did love the steel, as Evelyn said, and loved to talked music and trade instruments. Although I only seen him a couple times this past year or so, I will truly miss Pete. I got an email from him about every other week. Rest in peace Pete and this is one Michigander that is going to really miss you and our many conversations over the years.

All the Michigan Steelers will be sad to learn of Pete's passing.
He was a gentle soul and dearly loved the steel guitar. He will be sorely missed by all. Our Condolences to his wife and family. |

George Redmon played a few clubs around grand rapids with pete. And if memory serves me right, pete's wife Susie played drums. She is a sweet person, and we hit it off right away. This was about 20 years or so ago i think. Sad to hear this news. |

It's almost been a year since his passing, but having been absent from the forum for a while, I didn't learn of it until a few months ago at a gig in Grand Rapids. All that has been said above about Pete is true. We never met in person, but he was a great help getting started on the instrument. I still have the first emails we exchanged when he was helping me navigate buying a steel guitar. After that we would check in now and then, sharing what gigs we had played recently, discussing various guitars we had seen for sale on the forum, and just shooting the bull. Even though there was at least 40 years of difference between our ages, he was still a friend the same.
Miss you, buddy. |
