I have two 710 pickups, one says 17.5 ohms and the other 19.5. Before I put them on a guitar, what's going to be the tonal difference in the two if anyone knows. Thank- Hemry

Henry,
I am certainly not an expert in this field but having read many posts about P/U impedance I note that the lower figure will give a brighter "tone" whilst the higher one will be slightly darker.
I would doubt there will be a huge difference in the two pickups.
Best regards
Billy

If they are true Bill Lawrence pickups, the DC resistance will not mean anything. Bill winds pickups to more exacting AC measurements. Both of my 710's have difference DC resistance but both sound exactly the same.

Indeed, Bill makes quite a point of arguing that D.C. resistance measurements mean nothing about how a pickup will sound.

Thanks for you alls help. I'll probably put the 17.5 on E 9th and other on C6th.

Henry, I assure you as Jack stated, it will not matter, both pickups will sound exactly alike. Mr. Lawrence does not go by ohms.

Thanks Jerry, I really like the 710's because of the highs and presence they have. In my experience, they sound good on any guitar--Henry

Not that is is a great comparison, but on a twin humbucker Les Paul, the higher output pickup of the set usually goes on the bridge because there is less ocillation of the string and the neck pickup has a lower lower reading for the opposite reason. The only measurement they give is the DC resistance in ohms. I wonder if you could reason that the E9 strings are thinner and therefore have a lower potential to interrupt the magnetic field (like less ocillation of the string)and that the C6 neck has more potential because of heavier gauges. You'd want the higher ohm reading on the thinner strings. Of course ,I have absolutly no understanding of BL's method, or pickups. Sorry if this is pointless.
