I received an email from a Forumite asking "what modifications" I made to this 1976 MSA "Classic" model steel. At first glance, I thought this was a D-10 Emmons that I converted to an all-pull. Then I realized that it was just one of many MSA's I restored.

It appears that I recovered it in shiny black Formica. I added 1" barstock to the edges of the neck, giving it the appearance that it has an aluminum neck. I also added aluminum binding to the front panel (1/16" thick aluminum barstock I suspect). I liked red velvet as the background to the undercarriage, so used white glue to stick it to the underside of the cabinet.

It is likely that the plastic logo was missing on the front apron, so I had a logo made that I put on a number of guitars I restored. My daughter was my partner in doing these restorations back then. She was also into Arabian horses. So I had a friend draw one for the logo. I then called our work "Shadow Guitars".

All the guitars with my restoration plaque on them were disassembled and returned to as near new condition as I could make them. I polished everything, disassembled the changer and re-lubricated it, etc. I must have restored about 30 such guitars from 1992 until 1976. ...Tom
