Nice shot. But what's he doing with all those pedals? |

Did Ralph ever play C6? Did he record anything in C6? |

I don't recognise that guitar but he played a D-10 for at least the last 30 or 40 years that I know of. That shot looks fairly recent and I can't tell but is that a GFI? |

No. The "far-away" neck, as he referred to it, was tuned GBDGBDGBDG. He said he never used it, though.

So I guess Ralph never used the C6th tuning. |

If you don't yet have the CD (and shame on you if you don't and you love traditional country!) Ralph did an instrumental version of Crazy Arms on Marty Stuart's latest, "Ghost Train: The Studio B Sessions"
We know Marty as one of the keepers-of-the-flame of traditional country and his TV show has to be the greatest thing since I watched Porter & Dolly as a kid, but some may not know that he is an accomplished photographer and specializes in black & white. He also has one of the finest private collections of country music memorabilia in existence.
Then he marries Connie Smith, one of the queens. To top it off he has been arrested for drunk driving a couple times.
So he has done pretty much everything possible to make his life into a country song. Now that's commitment!
The link to The Tennessean isn't working for me, but I'm guessing that Marty took that shot of Ralph. And I'm also guessing that Ralph's appearance on the record is one of the last, if not the last recording he did. _________________ Mark |
