Hi Mike. This sounds like a wonderful project. I had no idea that you were so deeply interested in Indian music and the chaturangui. I'll pledge some as soon I can.
In fact, anyone who purchases anything from Steelin' From The Masters this weekend, all proceeds will go to your project. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Thanks Mike--that's a super cool and really really nice thing to do. I've studied with Debashish several times in the States but I've never been to India. Thanks again for your generous support!! Mike |

Very cool, Mike. I just made a contribution. I'd love to check out your instrument sometime. I've never seen one of those before.

Mike, I'd like to contribute--but by check. Got a mailing address?
Also the clickable questions at the right on your second page ("How do I contribute," etc.) don't seem to be working.

Hey folks--just a quick update: My Kolkata Groove project has been successfully funded! I leave for India in mid-December to begin a 3-week whirlwind of studying, recording and, possibly, some performing in Kolkata. Big thanks to Mike Neer for his awesome support. Thanks to everyone who checked it out. Peace, Mike |

howdy folks--back in Philly after 3 weeks in Kolkata studying with Debashish Bhattacharya, did some very exciting recordings with him and his tabla player brother Subashish. also got to sit in on lap steel at a couple clubs in Kolkata with a local Indian funk/groove band. awesome trip, beyond my expectations--thanks again to Mike Neer and other forumites for the support. gonna try to make music available by late March. thanks again, Mike

Mike, welcome back! Looking forward to hearing the new sounds.
Did you use mizrabs or regular finger picks? _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Mike--reg finger picks, so does Debashish. i even use a sheerhorn bar because i'm so used to it, although i think i'd probably get closer to Indian tone with a smaller bullet bar like a Brozohponic |
