For Sale: Sho Bud 6139 early Pro 1 3 x 1 Emmons set up. I'm actually not kidding when I say NEW. The gentleman I bought this from bought it brand new and he said he took 4 lessons and that was it. He is sure he bought it in the early 70's. Don't know date for sure. After the 4 lessons he hung it up and put it under the bed and thought he'd try later on. But he said it never happened. Of course, until you get the guitar you can't believe what you hear. But when I received the guitar I knew he was telling the truth. The guitar is beautiful and there is absolutely no wear on any parts. This is one the last model 6139's made because it does have the square front. Also it has the round shafts with the 2 hole pullers and also it has a double raise/single lower all pull changer system with hex nylon tuners. It has the gumby headstock, wide pedals, curved knee lever, and original rope inlay. It is the Lloyd Green color. I am in the process of putting a brand new set of strings on the guitar. It does play and sound great. There are absolutely no issues with it. It also came with the original rack mount Sho Bud volume pedal. Also included is the 2 allen wrenches it came with (no wear on them) and also the hex nylon tuning wrench that Sho Bud supplied with it brand new. It has Grover tuners which also are brand new. They turn freely and easily. Everything is original on this guitar and new as new can be for this age. It has the original Sho Bud single coil pick up. There is no wear at all on the changer fingers. It's like the guitar was never strung. The only flaw that is hardly noticeable is there must have been a little over run of lacquer when the guitar was made below the keyhead and I tried to scrape some of it off and maybe caused a little more damage by trying to do so and therefore I stopped. But it's not that noticeable. Guitar is absolutely beautiful. there is no weather checking on the finish either. It also has the raised or "dust-catcher" fret board w/o a scratch on it.
Seriously this guitar is awesome. The case is also like new and so is the leg bag. There is absolutely no black oily residue anywhere like guitars will have after years of movement. It is spic and span. You could eat off of the undercarriage. I can't say enough about this guitar. Truly a find!!!!! Take a look at the pictures and judge for yourself.
Copedent is Emmons Set up on Pedals and knee lever lower's strings 2 & 8. More knee levers could be added by with Coop parts easily. But being it's original I didn't want to do anything to it. I wanted to leave it the way it came from the factory.
Price: $1,575.00 for guitar/volume pedal

Al,
I scored a '74 under similar circumstances a few years back. Basically new. It's now 3 and 6. It didn't have a coil tap switch either, but Ricky told me to look and see how many wires were coming off the pickup. Sure enough! There was a wire taped off. It now has a coil tap switch! You might wanna look and see on this guitar. Back in '74, all models used the same pickups, even the "economy" models. |

Still curious if there's a taped off third wire from the pickup, Al. |

John,
There is a black and a red that go to the guitar jack and are being used now, and then it looks like there may be another black wire tucked underneath the changer frame, like they usually do. So if that's what the 3rd wire is that you're talking about then that's it. Them are the only 3 wires the pickup has. So it may be a coil tap pup. I would think it would be another red one or another color. I'm not sure John.

Bob,
I thought the same thing, but apparently we were both wrong because I know that this guitar is original. Maybe somebody else can chime in on this and respond.
It must have been the first year and maybe the first few square fronts that had it.

"when did rope inlay stop ?"
When they ran out of it. And if they found some stashed away, I'm sure they'd use it up! 8^D |

John, I think your answer hits the nail on the head, sounds like standard procedure for all factory built guitars, fender , gibson, emmons , sho bud... etc... |
