A real fine young dobro picker had two resonator guitars and a six-string acoustic stolen yesterday. Jennifer Kennedy, aka "Dobrogal," had her apartment broken into yesterday, in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Jennifer is a member of the band of the legendary Earl Scruggs. She has a website, www.Dobrogal.com

Here is her post from the Jerry Douglas Bulletin Board:

" Ok, today my apartment got broken into and took 3 instruments from my posession. 1. A Beard dobro made of black limba (which is a yellow color) with a spruce top and gold hardware. It's one of a kind. 2. A Gibson Dobro 60D model..redish orange color with white trim. 3. Epiphone acoustic guitar..black with an orange sunburst. Please keep a lookout any any music stores ya'll. No one can ever imagine what's it like to get something so precious taken from you until it's actually gone. Thanks for all your help."

What do you want to bet that pretty soon Jennifer will be playing pedal steel guitar? Betcha, betcha.

These things don't normally come to such a quick conclusion, or a happy ending- but some good news from Dobrogal:

"GOOD NEWS. My dobros have been found in Louisville KY at a local music store. The crook sold them for $300 for both so obviously the store figured they were stolen. They contacted me and I'm in the process of getting them back. Thanks for all your prayers! God works in mysterious ways!

-Jennifer"

She didn't mention anything about that yet-but I know about how much the Beard is worth-and the thief obviously was completely clueless, so just getting that back was phenomenal.

Maybe he kept the Epiphone, because if he tried to play those squareneck dobros like normal guitars, he might have thought they were pieces of junk because they were impossible to play. "Not only is the neck all wrong and too thick-it's too hard to press the strings down to the fretboard!"
