Not so wacky really.. I just sold one (thinning the herd). This has a Gibson P13 pickup (precursor to the P90) and sounded GREAT...

They are a little proud of theirs Smile

but they are pretty sweet sounding..

I bought mine for $300 and it is in total mint condition. It even came with the original picks and slide. It was from a one owner that never used it. Hal is right, they're not too uncommon, and yes they do sound great. I play mine all the time.
