I was womdering if any of you had any idea what kind of paint Rickenbacker used on their steele in the late fifties early sixties. I have a 10 string wood body console guitar (three legs)from that era. It plays beautifully, but the body has seen much, much better days. The original paint job is very badly chipped, and missing in large sections. Otherwise I wouldn't even be contemplating doing such a thing. I want to try to get a finish as close as possible to original condition. Any suggestions?

Steve:
Have you tried contacting Rickenbacker directly? I believe they have pretty good documentation of the past.
