Im looking to upgrade from my MSA sidekick that has some issues, to something a little more reliable and better sounding.
Im a teacher, so Im on a very limited budget. I have been looking at the GFI pedal steel that is around $1100, and Im wondering if anyone has any reviews/advice etc...

Ive played guitar for about 25 years now, and have been playing pedal steel for about 3. Im starting to advance a little and would like to find something a little better than my sidekick, that doesnt break the bank.

Thanks for any help or advice anyone can give me!

I've had both, and the GFI student model is a WAY better guitar. My sidekick started to fall apart, and I had to make some new parts for it. It also had some serious cabinet drop. The GFI is a reliable, playable steel.

Michael, I have been playing 38 years, 3 Emmons, 2 Fessy. All were great sounding and playing guitars. I'm getting a bit old to deal with the weight issues, so I tried a GFI Ultra S-10. It has absolutely everything I need, nothing I don't, and at 26 lbs, I can recommend GFI with enthusiasm. Very nice guitars.
