Am not certain that I am that poster, but I do use a Gator rolling keyboard bag for local gigs. Please feel free to e-mail or P.M. any questions that you may have....David |

I have one for a D-10 Emmons that I used when I was lugging the big ol guitar around. I had it made special. It had hard plastic right under the nylon and then hard foam under that, if that helps. _________________ '10 Williams 700 Series SD10 4+5/ '71 Emmons S-10 3+4/ '73 Emmons D-10 8+4/ GK MB 200/ Custom Tommy Huff Cabinets/ Webb 614-E/ Steelseat.com Pak-a-seat/ Magnatone and Fender lap steels/ Cobra Coil bars & Strings/ pod 2.0/ Peterson Tuners/Goodrich V.P./ Boss RV5/Teles and Martins

I've been using a keyboard case for my Zum SD-12 for many years. It cost me all of about $35 for the case. I had to modify it considerably. I added skate wheels from a worn out suitcase from Goodwill, put a Fender amp handle on the other end and built a form-fitting box inside to hold the guitar in place. It took a couple of days of cutting and assembling but was worth it. I just bought a Sierra SD-12 and its case weighs over 20 lbs. My keyboard case for the Zum is less than half that. I need to build another for the Sierra guitar (see my post for Wheel Eze case.) |

Thankyou everyone for the info, the keyboard case is a great idea , however I have yet to find affordable foam for it , that stuff is gold _________________ MSA S12 Classic XL 5/5

You're right about that! I found that Guitar Center here in Austin doesn't save shipping cartons or padding. There's a local music store that keeps them in a separate bin in back--you might check your area for that. Also electronics stores might have some. Certain types of styrofoam will last pretty long if you pad it with thick fabric like denim. Fabric stores sell foam rubber but it's the floppy type that is not that good but better than nothing. I'd check dumpsters behind electronics stores like Radio Shack/Fry's/Best Buy. |

For my zipper case I didn't use foam. I built a box out of plywood paneling with blocks of wood padded with felt that fit the top sides of the guitar and held it off the tuning keys and bridge. You don't want any foam or cloth rubbing on the bridge or roller nut. I prefer to suspend the tuning keys too just to keep it reasonably in tune when you set up. Basically imitate the inside of a hard case but do it with lighter materials. Mine isn't protected on the upside where the guts of the guitar are located. I just make sure I pack the thing and don't set anything on top of it. The newer semi-hard keyboard cases are much better. I'm considering one right now that costs about $150. It's a little heavier too but quite nice. |

thx John , I do the samething , I pack it myself to insure it's not damaged, also I agree and plan on suspending both ends emulating the factory case. I'm also considering building a lighter box type like in the factory case , thx _________________ MSA S12 Classic XL 5/5

The unit that I use is the Gator "49 key" rolling bag. The frame is rigid and the case is well padded. Cost is around $135.00 from most on line stores. |
