Hi Guys,
Will most any 3 button footpedal work ok on a Steel King.

I would think so Carl as it's just on/off for the three functions. I don't remember how the plug in is set up on the Steel Kings, not three seperate 1/4" I know that. connecting end would be the deciding factor.
Makes one wonder where the original went since ALL Steel Kings were shipped with one. Hmm....I hate it when that happens.

I'm not familiar with the Steel King itself, but most modern Fender use an electronic switching system. By varying the voltage, (depending on which switch is selected), an IC opens or closes a switch to complete the function. I used a 2 button Peavey, and modified it for my 20+ year old Champ 25.

Bill, Your right, this is an electronics switching device,
so normal on/off contact switching pedal won't work at all.

Carl, you could build one cheaply enough since you have the schematic!
1 zener, 3 led's, and 3 diodes, you could even use toggle switches, and clamp the box to the leg of the guitar.
