As someone absolutely new to not only the steel guitar, but to a S12.. I have had a number of questions asked on the forum and also taken offline.

Universally, the help has been freely given, and in some cases, extensive and time consuming including personal phone calls. I know everyone probably feels they have answered the same questions over and over, and I have always tried to do appropriate research and searches on topics before just "dumping a question" on the forum.. but even with some of the most basic questions, there has been an unfailing desire to help and to take the time to give thoughtful responses.

I only hope that some day, I will be in a position to return the favor.

Thanks to you all.. you know who you are Smile

I, too, have had this experience. What a great resource.

Oh boy,a big a-men to that..The first time that I sat down behind my PSG I knew exacatly what I wanted to do but no clue as to how..Being a long time lead player I thought the steel would be a peice of cake, not so..
I read all the "dumb Questions" and ask many myself..Sure enough the people on this forum took time to help..
I'm still a long way from being a "real" steel player but at least I can play basic licks in tune..
I was ready to take that dreaded 2nd string of my guitar but everyone said keep it and learn it..They were right,I can now use it pretty good...
Thanks guys.. Smile

While I don't consider myself a "guru", I enjoy helping out another steeler if they have questions. Many other players that have been playing a long time (as I have - 40 years) are more than happy to help. New players should never feel intimidated to post questions, whether they have been answered in the past or not. The search function here on the forum pretty much sucks, and I have found it fruitless to use it to find anything (although, I think I read where Bob has improved the search function by using Google or something - I think I saw that in the Forum Feedback section).

+1

That is certainly not to be meant as any offense to B0b, as he has a huge job on his hands, and does a great job; however, this site does have its limits, and newbies are often flogged for asking questions that have been answered before. The reason we ask things again (or at least the reason for some of us) is because the search function was of no help. It can't do boolean very well, and it never prioritizes or narrows the results, or even allows the user to do so. I hope the Google addition is working - this area deserved some badly needed attention.
