Just installed the Ken Fox mod kit in my Nashville 112. It completely opened up the amp and the tone is so much better. It was easy to install. Took about ten minutes and is well worth the cost.
Why don't they just build them right from the get-go?

They are built right from the get go.
The new, Texas Instrument acquired, Burr Brown OPA2134PA chips available from Mouser are fairly new.
Mouser will sell to the individual right here for 3.15 each.
They are really easy to install, just be sure to unplug chassis and ground your wrist for static discharge. (although in the summer months static is quite a bit less than the dry winter) Be sure the little notched end of the chip is installed in the same orientation as the older one removed.
Quite a simple procedure to do, and it will make a big difference.

The data sheet for the OPA2134PA is copyrighted 1996 and has a print date of 1997.
Yes, very recent. |

My apologies, Curt.
I must say I am partially wrong here. The data sheets were never changed and do not say T.I. on them at all. From the net:

So it has only been 11 years or so. Actually Peavey has been selling BB chips for some time (OPA2604AP) in their mod kits. However I can find no evidence that they ever installed them in the factory modded amps (seen many of the factory modded amps and none had BB chips).
As Peavey, I sold the OPA2604AP chips for a very long time. A friend recommended I try the OPA2134 chips and that is how we arrived at changing what we sell and install in our own mods and modded amps.
It is a very nice chip and does clean up the audio path in most anything it is installed in. I just built an Orange Squeezer pedal and compared the 4558 chip to the OPA2134PA and the BB chip ruled again. Actually turned the little Orange Squeezer into a real tone enhancement for guitar and steel.

| This is prolly a dull question, but does the Peavy bandit use the same basic amp?? In other words, can these chips be used in a Bandit, and will they do much for the sound?? I have a Bandit that is about 20 yeas old with a Sheffield speaker in it that I just can't get "tamed" down. (harsh sounding) ????? |

| Yes, they will work in it as well as a lot of older Peavey amps. We have been putting them in Special 130, LA400, Bandit and other amps with very nice sonic results. |

I recently purchased a new Nashville 112, I have Fox mod chips ready to go, but I seem to remember reading about 4 months ago that Peavey had made things more difficult somehow to install those type of modifications on the new amps? Any issues with installing the chips on a brand new Peavey 112?
