The Twin Reverb Custom 15's are fitted with same Eminence made Fender that was used in the Steel King run. This is the one that is advertised as being a remake of the very collectable JBL D130F .
Some of you are probably familiar with the Custom 15's . The cabinet on these is a little taller, by 2 inches , than the standard TR cabinet.
What I'd like to know is if the Fender speaker, with it's massive magnet, can be stuffed in the standard TR cab .With a height of 20 inches on the TR cab , a new baffle could be made , and could go in with around 4 inches or so clearance from the top of the cab to the speaker . Just dont know if that leaves enough clearance for the chassis to go in?

I don't know, Steve. Are you familiar with the speaker I'm referring to? Its got a magnet that has an 8 1/2 diameter. Very Heavy speaker. I think when Fender says "based on the JBL D130F", I think they are referring to the voicing of the speaker, not the overall design or look.

Alright, how about the depth of the basket including the magnet? On the Fender speaker it looks like the depth from the baffle to the back side (logo side) of the magnet is 5 1/2 inches.

You would be better off putting in the new Eminence EPS-15 light weight. Same sound out only 8 lbs! It renders the original obsolete.

Thanks Steve, sounds like she'll fit! I know steel players have been putting 15's in Twin Reverb amps since the 60's. With these Custom 15 cabinets , they build them a little bigger to give more breathing room, I guess.

Nice try, Kevin!! Laughing No seriously, I've checked with you about the Eminence Neo's, you do have the best price ! Looks and sounds like a great! I bet they get even sweeter every time you pick your amp or cabinet up!

I do really like the Fender speaker though!

I was able to get it in, and center it. Tight, but it will work.
