Yes, Peter, just beautiful. Tommy's taste, touch and tone is second to none.

Yes Tommy's playing has always been as it should be behind a singer.

I don't know what the rest of you heard, but the only thing I heard stand out, and cut through was the lead guitar player.

As compared, Tommy could have come up in volume. Evidently the sound person's favorite was the lead guitar and not the steel.

However, that's only my opinion. Other folks may have heard it quite differently.

But all in all, a nice job done by all......

I thought the sound was balanced and the steel sounded great on my end.

Andy, then it must be on my end. Most all of what I'm hearing is the lead guitar.

It would be interesting to see what Tommy has to say about the mix.. Note: It's possible she wanted the lead player up in the mix moreso than the steel.

In comparison: Here is one of hers and the difference is very evident in the mix. Take a listen:

Allison Moorer, a solt place to fall

This one is a much better mix, but again, only my opinion..

Tommy is a great player, but I feel, they should have had him more up in the mix..... Smile

Nice job anyway, but I'd have liked to heard him a bit higher up.....

Don, you have a point IMHO. I think the biggest sin was the lead player tending to walk over Tommy when Tommy was doing the back-up. During Tommy's break, the steel came through nice and clear, without interference.

A Soft Place to fall - different tune in some ways, in that the band was largely acoustic, with the steel being the only lead instrument, the way I saw it anyway.

BTW - I saw on that clip where Allison is playing right here in London Ontario on Aug 29!
She wouldn't have Tommy with her on steel would she?? Someone tell me before I get too excited here...

Yes Bent,

You are absolutely right, in saying that band was mostly acoustic. That was just a comparison, on a scale of where I feel Tommy's playing should have been up in the mix. The lead player sure was, while he was doing the lead work.

The lead player was a very good lead man. No arguments there. Just the kind I like. But he shouldn't have walked all over Tommy.

I'd still like to get Tommy's opinion on how he felt it should have been, or if he was satisfied with being down in the mix a bit too low?

Again, that's only my feelings. Lots of things take place that we sure don't know about. Maybe she didn't want the steel up in the mix? In Comparison, the lead player sure was.

That's the part we don't know about. But the part we do know about, is Tommy was definitely too low in the mix. The reason why that was, is the only thing we don't know.

That could well have been Tommy's choice to play at that low/er volume. I'm only expressing what my ears are telling me... Smile

Tommy Save us, and let us know your opinion.

Regardless a real nice job, nice song and great playing all the way around.............

You guys should check out her album called Alabama Song. There is steel all over it and every song is terrific. It is not Tommy doing the steel and I downloaded the songs from Itunes so I don't know the steeler, but he is great.

Ms. Moorer is a great talent.

Mtulbert, according to Allmusic.com , it's Dan Dugmore on the Alabama Song record. Tommy's one of my favorites too.
