It didn't annoy me at first, but it now finally has.

The latest install of Google has this wierd herky-jerky scrolling. It's not smooth and even at all.

You lose your place once the page moves up or down. And with bad eyesight, this dumb idea is even compounded.

I've been online searching for some way to get rid of it. An add-on maybe.
There are many others I ran across who are equally as miffed about this.

I did come across a Chrome add-on dealing with smooth scrolling. I am using Chrome, so I installed this add-on thinking maybe it would solve the Google issue. It didn't.

Does this bug anyone here, and have you figured a way to make herky-jerky go away? (short of not using Google at all.)

Chrome scrolls OK on mine. Just like I.E. and FF.

Do you get those little blue arrows to the left of a link?

Here are some complaints:

What from Google did you install? And what from Google are you thinking of not using at all? Is it the Chrome OS? Chrome browser? Some other Google program?

EB,

Well, I'm not sure what version I have of Google, only that I keep up with their updates, when so notified.
I just tried to find the version somewhere, but,
fuggetaboutit.

Chrome is the latest Chrome version. I'm not gonna quit Google, I was just bein' a bit tongue & cheek, there.

The SMOOTH add-on I installed can be found on Chrome Add-ons.

I'm pretty sure the Hy-Jy issue is with Google. That's the concensus, it seems, according to my link above.

Here's a pic of a Google page with the little blue arrow right next to "The Legend of Nessie...." - the first link. And the scrolling is just annoying to no end.

And here's my page to the Forum; obviously no little blue arrows, and smooth scrolling, and sailing. Smile

Here is the page I got with Chrome. It scrolls without problems on my system. I have an ATI Radeon HD4850 video card.

Jack,

My video card (Device Manager) is an
ATI Radeon X2100 Series. I didn't check if there was more info on it in Belarc.

The PC is an ACER 3100-U3201A, and I'm running W7.
(I think you're already aware of this, tho)

So are you suspecting it's in the video card?

Everything else 'video' works OK on this PC.

All those folks on that weblink, then, have bum video cards?

I just realized what you are complaining about. Mine does the what feels like a "click" as I scroll. It probably has to do with how Chrome handles video. When I scroll up or down, it feels like my scroll wheel is clicking rather than a smooth scroll like in Internet Explorer 9.

From the link you provided, it's Chrome and not the PC. Probably nothing you can do, either accept it or use a different browser. FF5 works just like Chrome. I.E.9 has a smooth scroll.

Jack,

You beat me to the punch. Just now I put FireFox up and went to the exact same Nessie page and the scrolling is very smooth. The little blue arrows are there, too.
Don't know why I didn't think to do this test, before.

Yup, Chrome's gotta be the culprit.

FF is OK, but it seems like it takes an eternity to pop-up, where Chrome leaps to life pretty fast.
