| Wondering if somebody could tell the year of this steel. #SCM14SE84861 On other Sierra's it is the last two numbers that tell you the year.This is a Stafford Elegante,apparently they are different.It is certainly not a 1961! Has a push button pickup selector. I am thinking it would be the 84 or the 86 in there but the guitar appears much newer.Thanks if you can help. Gary |

That's not like any serialization sequence on either of the 2 '87 SCM14SE's I've owned. They read like SCM14SE XXXX only 4 numerals following the model designation. [Sierra Crown Masters Stafford Elegante XXXX.]
Don't know how they did it in the 90's, but if it has a rocker switch, it must certainly be newer than the 87's I owned unless someone has changed it, because the older ones had toggles. Also, later models had knurled plastic fingertip tuner knobs at the gearless end v the earlier brass ones.
Are you sure that's the right #? If so, you can call Tom Baker at Sierra, if he's still around, and find the info. |

My pal Tom is on the road, but I've got some contact with him and had an opportunity to ask him about your serial#.
He asks if you're sure that 6 is correct...He says it should be a 9 in which case it'd be a 91. Check that serial # and post a pic. I'll make sure Tom sees it |
