Get a modern steel set up and ready to go...
It's hard enough with a solid PSG to start. _________________ MSA 12 String E9th/B6th Universal.

As a guestimate: $150 per lever plus or minus $50
Old SBs are cool, for sure, but be warned. They can be a bit of a "money pit" when you get all done setting it up into playing condition. It's sort of like restoring an old car. I just did this and yes I have a nice old 1973 ShoBud Professional D-10 to show for all my cost. But I have to admit, I wish I had just bought a newer guitar. Consider what the other gentlemen in this thread are saying. Your learning curve will probably be easier on a more modern PSG. _________________ To write with a broken pencil is pointless. |

IMO, as a beginner, as long as its got 3x1, you will find plenty of music on that set-up for the first 1-2 years.
FYI, if its a maverick you wont be able to add knees anyway. _________________ '65 Sho-Bud D-10 Permanent • '54 Fender Dual-8 • Clinesmith T-8 • '38 Ric Bakelite • '92 Emmons D-10 Legrande II |

If it's rack and barrels,,, pretty easy to remove 3 pedals and replace them with levers. The racks are already there. All you'd need is the levers, no crossrods needed. Easy conversion to 3 pedals , 5 levers. |
