My 2yr old takes one of my bars and smack's the pick-up on my carter d-10, she did it so fast not even the quick hands of buddy e. could stop her. All I heard was crackling then nothing out of the amp, the c6th side works fine. This is a later model Carter, are all pick-ups interchangable on it with no modification, it has Gearge l's on it and I am tempted to try something else like bill lawrence. By the way this little girl does no wrong in my eyes!!!!!

Most any wide mount pickup should work. The Lawrence XR16 is a good choice. If you decide to try the Alumitone however, be certain to get the mounting adapter kit as well.

I mounted an Alumitone in a Carter with out a mounting kit.
Drill and screw. w/ optional foam.
In the end I ended up mounting mine directly to the body to lower it further.
Repeat, you must drill rock maple to get screws in it.
I don't think the mounting kits are even available anymore are they?
XR-16s are a very good sound .. more compressed and nice for live playing.
Alumitone has more towards a single coil sound.

Hey Ken Metcalf, do you ever play that Alumitone with dirt pedals?

Very rarely with the dirt pedals, but yeah it works okay.
Playing through a Fox 5D6b at 30 watts it is surprisingly clean but if I give it the gas it grows a little hair..
I have been thinking of trying a Earth Drive and working on a Rusty Young / Allman Bros thing.
I like playing the One way out lick at the end of working man blues... and have tried the tipping the steel out toward the audience.. Its a real attention getter..

I'll give a vote for the BL pickups.. I really like mine.. I just don't like those George L pickups.. too dark for me... not enough "growl" in my opinion for my taste.
