Hey guys is there anyone out there that would tell me what difference a mod chip would make in my N400 above what how it sounds now. I'm playing a D-10 Sho-Bud Pro111 Custom. I just want to be sure I get an idea of what I'm doing before I spend money on something I don't need. Thanks Rolling Eyes

There are several factors. First, which model Nashville 400 do you have? One of the originals, a newer model with the 1501 and no factory tone mod, or a newer model with the 1501 and either the LeMay, Factory or Ken Fox mod?

Finally it's to what sounds "best" to your ears. Some may not "hear" any difference, some may hear a positive difference and some may hear a negative difference.

Two of us locally, both electronics techs installed the OPA2604 op amps in our later model Nashville 400's with the 1501 speaker. Mine had the original Peavey factory mod (Installed by Peavey) and the other had the equivalent to a LeMay mod kit installed. I have a Franklin D-10 and the other was a Gibson D8 "lap" steel. Neither of us heard any difference.

On the other hand, I installed the OPA2134 op amps in a Nashville 1000 and it made a noticeable (positive) difference.

The best thing I can tell you, if you think you want them, get them and try them. If you like them, great, if not you can remove them and put the originals back in.

Hey Jack, Thank you for your honest reply, this was what I was trying to esstablish and there was no answer back. If this were to make a noticeable improvement then by all means go for it. I just can't see how you could advertise something and not be able to prove it's credibility or valued achievement, I love the art of music and I would buy whatever I needed to accomplish or enhance my skill, I am just trying to seperate fact from hype; money is tight and need not be wasted on hype. JMHO Thank you again. Confused

I do not recall putting any "hype" on the forum about these chips. I do not play any solid state amps but do work on many and do in fact sell this widely accepted chip in a kit with instructions. I do not believe in a bunch of product thype. This is a better sounding audio amy chip but will not make you sound like Buddy Emmons or any other great player. It will however give you a nice tone that has been widely accepted by many players. We have sold well over 2000 of this newer chip in kits for steel amps. If you were to do a search you would find many people talking about them on the forum. I have in fact put up a sound clip with a N-400 amp and these chips, which I mentioned in another post where you were asking about them. Here are a few comments on the chips:
