Good Morning,

This week's clip goes back to 1978. The singer is not too hard to guess and there's some nice back-up steel here:

Enjoy the music!

Kind Regards, Walter

One of the best Tom T. Hall records ever was "We miss you, on the poor side of town" Ray.

I'm gonna say Buddy Emmons? Tom T's producer was Jerry Kennedy who produced Roger Miller's "A Trip in the Country" in 1970 w/ Emmons and the first two Johnny Rodriguez LP's: "Introducing Johnny Rodriguez" (1973) and "All I Ever Meant To Do Was Sing" (1973) w/ Pete Drake.

Some interesting answers here but Bob has nailed it. It is Russ Hicks who is a great stylist and should be in the SGHOF, IMHO. Smile

Kind Regards, Walter

I went back and listened a few more times and with all due regard for Russ and his talent, if that isn't a 100% duplicate of Jimmy Day, I'll eat my hat...oops...I forgot...I don't have a hat. At least not what some folks would call a hat !!

Like my grandson said once years ago...we have to go to Wal-Mart and get you some new ears !!

Everytime I've seen Russ Hicks at a steel show - he pays tribute to Jimmy Day and plays "We Could."

As far as Russ Hicks being inducted into the International Steel Guitar Hall of Fame - it seems he would have more than enough recordings (solo & major label), TV & movie appearances, artist & Opry gigs and stylistic innovations to more than qualify for induction.
