Joe, I've been a regular at the Southeast Texas Steel Guitar Club jams and it's great. It has some key anchor players, like Jody Sanders, Billy Phelps, Bobby Bowman, Jody Cameron, and lately, Randy Boyd. This attracts other quality players and it just works great. They also have a backup group of drums, bass and rhythm guitar. Often fiddle too. I will try to make yours just to kick the tires. Who knows, it may take off too.

I'll try to make it. I live in Spring, i have been gigging 2-3 times a week on top of a day job, so no promises, but id like to come meet some of the area's other pickers...

Hi Joe I live in Az.now but Orig. from Pasadena.I remember back in the early 40's my mom and dad used to go to the old Ace of Clubs on the Old Galveston Highway to see Floyd Tillman on Sat.nights'
Tell old man Bowman hey for me and My buddy Jody Cameron. Hope to see them at the Phoenix show and from what I been hearing Dixie and I will see Bobby at the Baxter Springs Ks. show in Oct.

Location, Location, Location! The current choice (Ellington Field) is about half way to Galveston. Maybe a spot more centrally located might create more interest. |
