This might be more appropriate in a different section, but it's pretty specific to steel guitar, so here goes...

I've got a TMB4 8 string bridge that I ordered to make up a multi-tuning non-pedal steel. It's a fabulous piece of equipment, but the spacing is too wide for me. It must be around 7/16" between strings (standard Gibson electric guitar spacing?). It'll be perfect for someone who's used to 6-string or dobro spacing and wants to expand into 8 string tunings (and lots of 'em)
Here's a link to the product page on Hipshot's site.:

Retail is $250. I believe $175 will cover my cost and shipping to you. I'd rather see someone here get it at a good price than post it on Ebay.

Thanks
J A

John, is it a bridge/tailpiece or just tailpiece. Can you give me the footprint size please.

It is more properly a tailpiece, not a bridge. I had hopes of just mounting it onto one of my standard steels, but the width will make some extra engineering necessary in order to get to the narrower spacing. If I don't end up selling it, I'll just design and build something that will allow enough room in front of this thing to run the strings over a narrower roller-type bridge.
Base measures 3.3625" wide by 3.08"...4 mounting screw holes about 5/8" in from the sides, 7/8" in from the front, 3/8" in from the back.
Thanks

Thanks John. Not a prayer it would fit on either of my 8 stringers. Not enough clearance behind the bridge. Good luck with your sale.

That's why I'm sort of skipping the project. I can pretty easily build up a body that will work for it, but it gets a little unwieldy and I already have enough on my plate.
It's a beautifully engineered piece of equipment, though.

John,

on the Rick Turner Model T the area below the bridge is carved out a bit, giving the needed clearance for the bridge to work properly without interference. I tried to upload a pic, but it wouldn't load. I can send a jpg. by PM if you'd like.

Jeff, it's all yours...we'll settle up.

Mike...thanks for the info. I may yet come up with a tuning system that will allow for minimum modification of my basic design. For now my personal quest is to design an 8-string pedal in conjunction with Jim Flynn (Lone Star Steel Guitars) based on my console design. We've talked about it several times and I just have to come up with a modified body that will allow him to mount an undercarriage and changer.
