I am the proud owner of a Pro-1 of advanced years. She came out of a VFW hall in Texas, if I remember rightly-- she was a permanent fixture on the stage, and still had the neon blue shag carpeting stuck to her feet, and about 50 lung cancers worth of cigarette tar on her. Luckily a one-neck is just a little short to put a beer bottle on, so there were no tell-tale rings.
But I wonder if it's a possible DIY to add left-leg knee levers to this-- it's a two-lever version, and I note that the next model up had four, so I think it should be possible. Where would I get the parts and just how difficult-- or impossible!-- would it be?
In a related question, my current right knee lever drops the second string from an Eb to a D, fine for sliding into E7, but it also raises the 8th string E up to an F, which I have not as yet had the need to use. Can I rededicate that second raise to some other function, and if so, what would be common? |

that's a good steel and installing another knee lever is fairly simple if you get the matching parts. you should probably take the e-f raise off the existing lever and put it on the new lever, along with the same change on the high e string. (you 'will' find the need...very important change) |

Thanks, Chris, you've given me a start. When I left Austin in the late '70s, I sold my old Emmons, which was a one-neck on a two-neck body, great for stabilizing hand position. Now I find myself remembering how to play the instrument, but not actually able to do it-- like in a dream. Slowly relearning has been entrancing fun, though I am also playing dobro and regular guitar, so the relationships among three different systems of tuning are sometimes confusing. I will work on that E-F utilization! As to the knee levers, where would I get said parts??? |

Is it a Rack and Barrel guitar? How about a pic of the underside? |

Well, you asked for it! I have preserved the Scotch magic tape on the pedal levers that once I am sure contained important information long faded away, and after I spent some time cleaning the cigarette smoke off it I realized I was probably destroying its kharma at the same time-- or maybe it's dharma, or maybe it's llama; I can never keep those straight-- so you'll see some nice greenish spots here and there.
Anyone who can talk tech with me about this machine will make me happy. I am devoting a couple of hours a day to getting my chops back, which is why it's set up next to the writing desk with the nice youtube lessons at hand...

If it's a R&B guitar, some extra racks my be needed. But James may know a way around that. I bought a Pro D-10 in '72. In '73 I added two levers,,,, but I'll be darned if I can remember how I did it! I recall that I had to tune the levers with a set screw underneath, that determined how far the lever moved. Wish I still had that axe! Wonderful sound. |

Ooooooh! It was green! James has all the parts you need. Not an R&B guitar. |

Looks like a Super Pro mechanism to me -- Jeff Surratt at Show Pro guitars can probably help you out with knee lever kits to fit !!

Hello all. I am also the proud owner of a Sho Bud Pro 1 and am in need of assistance on compiling a parts list for installing LKR LKV and a LKL. Can anyone point me in the direction of someone who might sell kits or parts? I've been poking around on PSGparts.com but I'm not sure they have everything I need.
my serial number is 5388
