Hi,
I'm looking for a 'budget-conscious' square-neck resonator, purely for home use. I'd be interested in a fixer-upper, condition not too important. Anything out there?
Regards, Tony
PS: I'd need it shipped to Ireland! |

What's your budget? There are tons of inexpensive, well made resonator guitars out there, more than at any time in history. Without knowing what you want to spend, it's hard to suggest where to spend it. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Hi Brad.....don't laugh, but I'm looking to spend max. $300 (I have to allow shipping and taxes/duty...another $150)
I see plenty on Ebay which are affordable, but after a while all the brand names start to blur! I know we're talking cheap imports here, but surely some of them would be passable for a home-use newbie? There's a Flint Hill I'm looking at....any suggestions or 'keep away from' tips would be very welcome. Perhapa a top 5 in order of value for money?
Thanks in advance,
Tony |

Honestly, your best bet is to get an inexpensive acoustic guitar and put a Slide Guitar Extension Nut on it.
Any of the Regal resonator guitars would be a good choice, but you'd probably have to buy them used or through eBay to get a deal within your price range.
I played a friend's Rondo SX resonator guitar and found that it was actually not that bad. Like all cheap instruments, it would benefit from better hardware (especially the tuners) and a good setup, but out of the box all he did was change the strings.
You should write to the owner Kurt and ask if he'll ship to Ireland. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel
