I have one of these and thought I'd put in a good word for it (I love mine and will never part with it!).

Some people have expressed concern that the 1937 model has just a single control which is for volume. It is not wired up as a potentiometer like a typical volume control but as variable resistor to ground. Bottom line is that I get a very full range of tones from the single volume control. As you turn it down from 10 to maybe 4, the volume stays about the same but the tone mellows out really nicely. As you turn it down from 4 the volume starts getting cut back noticeably and the tone gets deeper.

I'd say that I get a better range of killer tones from that single control than I do from most lap steels with two controls.

Good luck! I hope that you sell it to someone here who will play rather than some collector who will just hang it on the wall.

Terry, you are crazy for taking less than $1,500.00. It is worth a lot more than $1,500.00. In time you will be sorry.

The Silver Ricky's were made from 1937-1943.

This 1937 is in great shape and sounds like a million dollars. It is a rare Hawaiian Steel Guitar.

If interested call me at 417-468-2102.

Thanks!

Hi Mike,

Yes there are actually two instructional DVDs for the Lap Steel using the C6th tuning.

I used this vintage 1937 steel for the DVDs and it turned out super!

The DVDs are $15 each plus $2 postage for each DVD.
