When i try to download an M2a file I get a message that windows does not recognise this file.I am directed to a "Fix" recommendation(several actually) and they all offer a free service which seems to do nothing but point errors which can be fixed after enrolling and paying.??
Short question,How do I open an M2a file?

Try and rename the file extension to .MP3
That will force your existing MP3 player to open it and try to play it. |

Right click on the file and choose Save As, which downloads it to your selected, or default downloads folder location. Once it is downloaded, Open the location, or Containing Folder. Scan it for viruses (usually a right click option), then right click on it and see if it says Play, or Open at the top. If not Play, your media player is not configured, or capable of playing this type of file.
Where did you find the m2a file? If it is not a mistyped mp3, it must be a file that is playable only in the application that created it. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum

An M2A file is an audio file that has been compressed with MPEG-1 (or 2) Layer II audio compression; used primarily by video-editing programs. Sometimes a video-edit project is exported along with a separate corresponding M2V video file.
M2A files are also known as an Apple MPEG-1/2 Audio file.
The MPEG-1/2 format is supported by QuickTime Player and various other media players such as MplayerClassic.
Most MPEG-compressed audio files now use .MP3 compression.
Try "Open With" and point the file to your MP3 player. If it works, tell it to always open M2A files with your MP3 player. |

Gents,
The file was sent to me as a backup for some new settings for a Lexicon mx200.
I have to use the Lexicon disc and when prompted I have to load the new settings from the m2a.
Thanks for helping

Hi again,
Fixed.
If You will pardon Me conversing in non computer term....The file I had tried to open had to be used in conjunction with the Lexicon disc which the somehow manages to get the data from the m2a file without (Me the user) having to open it.
The new presets have now been installed in the Lexicon.
Apologies for time wasting.
Best regards
Billy |
