Did any of our central Texas brethren catch the new group with Cindy Cashdollar, (ex-Commander Cody/LPA guitarist) Bill Kirchen and Sarah Brown on Saturday night? They played the Evangeline Cafe in far south Austin under the name "Too Much Gumbo."
I did not attend and was hoping to get a short report from anyone who made it out to hear them.

thanks,

Mike

Nope. But I caught Cindy's set with Johnny Nicholas last week in Rehobeth, Massachusetts. Cindy played great despite being held way down in the mix. Her role in the band was mostly to add color and texture to Nicholas' music but when she got a rare solo the crowd noticed and she got the biggest hand of the evening.

I really wish I was there! Cindy is one of my favorite steel players!

Here is what Austin Music Journal is saying:
Quote:

Count on guitarist Bill Kirchen to surround himself with some of Austin's best musicians whenever he comes to town. Last night (6/4/11) at the Evangeline Cafe was no different. Joining him on stage under the moniker 'Too Much Gumbo' were Cindy Cashdollar on steel, Ron Erwin on drums, bassist Sarah Brown, and guitarist George Bedard. More of Austin's musical elite were among the standing-room-only audience.

Kirchen and Co. proved once again, you can never have 'too much fun' in Austin. The pictures are posted in our Photo Gallery.
