Paul that sounds like a good time. I'm a long time Original Hinson Family fan. They always had great steel on their records. The third voice with Bo is Shawn McDougal I don't know anything about him. Their new project sound good and has some good steel guitar on it. It sounds like Scott Sanders. Have fun |

Thanks Bob. Shawn was with him for years, not sure if he still is. Yeah Scott played steel for the orignal Hinsons and played on the latest project called (favor) for Bo. _________________ 1975 Emmons SD-10 push pull, Telecaster Peavey and fender amps |

We were big fans of the Original Hinsons years ago. Ronnie Moore used to play steel for them and he would come to our house when they were close. Jerry went with the on the bus one time and it caught on fire underneath. We had a lot of good times with them. Glad to hear they are having a live band. I can't get Jerry to go hear any gospel groups anymore because most of them don't have live bands, or a steel. Have a good time.

The Hinson's have always been one of my favorite groups. It's so good to hear they are still using a live band WITH steel . The steel was and still is a key element in their sound . Love the "New Hinsons" also .
Donna , I agree with Jerry . I've almost quit going to the Gospel concerts for the same reason . They either use canned music or have no steel . We use to go to the Seminole Sing in Oklahoma every year but the last time I went it was almost all tracks .Thumbs up for The Hinsons , for still doing it the way it ought to be done . Way to go Paul . Have fun . Wish it was closer I'd sure be there . Do you know if they're doing any Texas dates soon ? _________________ Show Pro #26 & #83,BJS bars,Stereo Steel,Tommy Huff cabs loaded with JBL D130's, Wampler pedals,NV112,NV400, Steelers Choice Seats |

Donna, Do you still stay in touch with Ronnie Moore. Just wondering what he's up to these days. I'm with Jerry I don't go to very many singings for the same reason. If your just going to play you CD well I'll just stay home in my easy chair and listen to the CD.
I think I'm going to find me some canned singer and go on the road. |

Coming from someone who has mixed front of house for Southern Gospel groups, I have to 2nd the motion about a live band. Ain't nothin' like the real thing. LOL It takes the service or concert to another whole level.
As far as the Hinson Family, that's like peas and cornbread. That's all I ever knew growing up. When I started out learning to play pedal steel, I would listen to Scott Sanders for hours on end. There will never be another Kenny Hinson. However, I saw a YouTube video of his son. You could close your eyes and he sounds so much like Kenny that it's scary.
Be Blessed,
Randy |

Hey Paul,
I just now saw this post. That was great news my friend. I know you had a great time. Like Jerry Newberry, I don't hardly ever go to gospel sings any more. After playing for Gospel groups for over twenty years it's just not the same without the live music. It really helps to generate the excitement of the message of the music. Like Bob Drawbaugh said I will just get the CD and listen anytime I want.
Ronald Sikes mentioned the Seminole Sing. I have played that one before (late 70's) and what a great sing that was! Outside and all night! Paul, I didn't mean to hijack your post with my soapbox. As we have talked about before you already knew my feelings about the live music thing.

Thanks for all the comments, i guess we all agree on live bands for any kind of music, But we all can understand the money and putting up with lots of stuff to have a live band haha. But it was a Blessing!! doing this concert and hopefully I will post some more to come, God Bless you all , Paul Burton _________________ 1975 Emmons SD-10 push pull, Telecaster Peavey and fender amps |
