I bought this on ebay about 12 years ago. It is currently set up as a six string but has 10 grover tuners. This is a very rare, extra large bodied dobro with a 15 1/2 inch lower bout.I have included a photo of this guitar next to a similar vintage style 27 for comparison. It has a beautiful rich bottom while still retaining sweet high tones.
Originally an 8 string, Don converted it to 10. The coverplate was custom engraved at the Dopeyera shop. It is pretty stunning and I have been told it would cost about 1,000.00 to replicate. The guitar has a pro setup with a Quarterman cone. I had a local metal worker customize a palm rest and tail piece for it. The guitar includes the original 10 string saddle, the six string tailpiece that is on it now and a 12 string trapeze tailpiece. The only thing you would need to do to convert it back to a 10 would be to unscrew the palm rest (2 screws), switch tailpieces, and cut a new nut (I will include the appropriate sized blank). It comes with a SKB case that fits it really well. I would prefer not to ship but we can work on that. 1600.00 Trades and offers welcomed. Feel free to email me with questions.
If you don't know who Don Buzard was do a google search with "Don Buzard " and you can check out this link from SGF http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=670323&sid=2b3e24bcbb2e740d079cc8f4acefb17e . From what I have read and heard he was a pretty amazing musician. Anybody have stories to share?
