Any advice on a good choice? My primary reason for buying one is to add to my lap steel's sound, but I would also use it for standard electric guitar. I've heard that a steel's volume pedal requires different characteristics than a regular pedal, but I can't imagine what they are (attenuation rate?) as these seem to be pretty simple devices . I heard good things about Ernie Ball pedals, mostly that they do not affect the tone/sound of the signal (pretty important to me). Any opinions and recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Yeah Cliff, the Ernie Ball's are good, usually around $90 new or $350 on ebay

The Goodrich is even better, but it's more money, about $140. Either would also work with regular guitar, they are very transparent.

I've also noticed that some pedals are designed to be used sitting down (Goodrich, etc.) and others work better standing up Morley and other).
