My group The Neighborhood Trio (vibes, lap steel and double bass) will be on a Twin Cities Public TV show tonight. Here is a web only preview of me talking a lot and playing a little.

http://www.mnoriginal.org/art/?p=4553

I am playing what started as an exercise in back to back forward and reverse slants that turned into my comping part for a tune of ours. It is a fun, and tricky little bugger to play. I see in this video I need to limit my wrist movement on my forward slants!

I would like to share more about the Trio - It's a cool group. I will post the link to the show when it is available.

Thanks,
Dan

Looking forward to seeing the trio, Dan. That was a nice spot and you handled it well.

With the camera tight on your left hand there's no hiding that fact, eh? Jerry Byrd lays it all out on how to do all those slants nimbly with just the fingers. Nice sound on that Weissy!

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Kevin, you asked about the tuning. I am using
D A D F# A B D (low to high)

I often tune the low A up to the dominant 7th to get:

D C D F# A B D

I am working on getting an 8-string Weissenborn so I can have both the A and the C down there.

Thanks Again,
Dan
