My mentor growing up, Bill Pulford, died yesterday at 6:15pm. He was the one to first expose me to a steel guitar, and helped me learn the basics as a kid up in Ohio. Bill was another one of our unsung heroes. I know many of you around the Lima, Oh area knew Bill. He will be sadly missed.

I hadn't heard that Bob. Bill was a good friend over the years. Back in the 90's we crossed paths many many times. We both played for The Mountain Dew Boys at different times. Though we were in different bands we seemed to bump into each other all the time. Seemed like any charity event both bands were there. Any contest both were there. Anything that was multiband, we were both there. He was an incredable steel guitarist and a fabulous person. Lots of fun. He will be missed.

Bob, Very sorry about Bill's passing. He was a good friend down thru the years, even though I hadn't had any contact with him for many years. Bill was the first guy to call me to play a job with Loretta Lynn way back in the 60's. He was quite a unique fellow. Dave Thornhill

Dave, you sure got that right. I'm thinking about 1976 or 1977, somewhere in there. I hope everything is okay with you.
