SOLD Pending Payment
Most of you here are already familiar with this amp, so you likely have some idea of how I feel about needing to sell it. This is one of the original group that Ken built and is still in mint condition--it was out of the house only once, and that was to get measurements done by D2F.
For those not familiar with it, the 5D6B came about when a very rare '54/'55 Fender Bassman amp came to Ken's shop for repair. The sound of this amp haunted Ken until he decided to build a copy. Many players are familiar with the '59 Bassman, which uses the 5F6 circuit. The earlier 5D6 circuit was largely unknown, although people who've heard it think it sounds better than the legendary '59 Bassman.
Those wanting more details can visit Ken's site, where he has some info on the 5D6C model.
I also have spare tubes that will go along with it:
NOS 5Y3GT (two)
NOS 12AY7 (three)
NOS 12AX7 (one)
Matched pair of JJ 6L6GC
$1900 shipped CONUS.

I have the next one - #010.
This is, quite simply, the best amp I've ever played through. Mine sounds stunning with either my Emmons LeGrandes or my Custom Shop Thin-Skin Telecasters.
I've found the Holy Grail of tube amps, and mine's not for sale! This one is, however, and someone will be very happy..... _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles and Martins - and, at last, a Gibson Super 400!

Thanks for the post, Roger. Whenever I haven't used this amp for a few days it always surprises me with how good it sounds. The overall sound is so clear, but the subtle distortion added by the phase splitter makes it sound very full, even without any reverb added. I hope it ends up in a good home. |
