i must say that gprdon dodson is a talent that alabama can add to the list of legendary talents.
not only does he play supurb he sings what fits his playing, he is excellent at what he does, thus he plays an excel.
governor gordon dodson: now that has a ring to it!
my observation from mississippi....
do not try to do this at home.

Hey friends,
I was just going over my schedule for the next couple of months, and realized that I hadn't seen anything on the forum about this show for a few weeks. Just thought I'd put a reminder out there to put this one back on the first page. Come join us, I know you'll have a big time.

Thanks Joe and Jack, for the nice comments.
Jean Kendall and I are looking forward to this upcoming show. Jean Kendall will be
playing her EXCEL Superb 14-string steel guitar with an E9/6, 10 and 6 Julian Tharpe set up. When she plays "Steel Guitar Boogie", there is no doubt that she is in control of that fine instrument.
We will see ya'll soon.

I'm looking forward to my second opportunity to pick with some great musicians in Opp. Joe and Doug are two of my favorite steel pickers. I'm a six stringer, but I bought a Zum Stage One about three months ago, and am making some progress. It's a challenge for me at this stage of my life, but I'm determined.
I know we'll have a good show, and a lot of fun in Opp.

John just droped me off from comming from the best
Show we ever attended, the support was second to none, best run show I have ever seen. Joe Wright out did himself at this show, 3 STANDING ovations, and he was under lots of stress, buit did not let it show, my heart goes out to him for the JOB he did, and every one showed they enjoyed his part.
My friend John LeMastes came to light in this show for the talent he is, I am glad he is finnally been discovered for the talent he has, straight forward Country music at it's best, his mgnum carter sure sounded good thru his Steel King.
Joe I wish to thank you for treating us in the great manner you did, and the same to all performers, what a great show and you are to be saluted for your great work and organising yod did to put it on, look forward to next year.
Pictures added as sooon as I can get them redid for posting.

Hey Ernie,
You're so right, it was a great show. Joe Wright was his normal brilliant self, and Doug, as always, was simply amazing. Our buddy John LeMaster, really impressed everyone with his fine play and a very enjoyable set. It was special to see Jimmy Powell feeling better and doing a great job on his set. My buddy Clyde Bloodworth entertained like only he can, and Gordon Dodson and his neice continue to be fan favorites.
The staff band is so much fun to work with, great players and a bunch of good guys too. Joe, thanks for putting together such a fine event, and inviting me to be a small part of things.
See ya next year,
Jim |
