Go to youtube & search Micky Adams and scroll through his videos. I had a gig with Adam Gosdin (Vern's brother) and I had to find it too. It's really pretty EZ to mock, but apparently very hard to do exact with a 10 string E9th steel !? Micky explains a little about why. Have a piece tab paper ready when you view it & you can make your OWN tab for it!!! Let me know how you do with it; I'd be interested in how you make out. Regards, |

No wonder Mickey avoided showing us this one at first.

Jim Vest and I played on his records. Jim has a trick of detuning his 10th string to where it's a low open A with the pedal engaged. That's what gives that sound on "Set 'Em Up, Joe." Nothing special about either one of our setups, really. |
I also listened to Jamey Johnsons version with Eddie Long, who does play a 12 string. He does something different than what I tabbed here at the end.
Not exact, but hope this helps.
BTW, I tried tuning string 10 from B down to a flat F#, and it does have that boowah effect as in the original by Vern Gosdin. Interesting to note that it was done on 10 strings!

In the You Tube video "Legends of Steel Guitar" part 8, Jim Vest explains how he did that intro. |
