Here's a medley of songs played on an Excel Frypan using the 8 string E13 tuning. The songs are: Panhandle Rag, This Is The Southland, Walking After Midnight and Cold Cold Heart.

| Nice playing ! The song you called "Song of the South" was written by Les (carrot top) Anderson and recorded under the title of "This Is The Southland" when he was playing Steel Guitar with Bob Wills in the mid 40's. How was your Guitar tuned to get the Major 7th chord at the very end ? |

the E13 tuning high to low is:
.011 G# (3rd)
.015 E (Root)
.018 C# (6th)
.020 B (5th)
.026 G# (3rd)
.032 E (Root)
.036 D (7th)
.042 B (5th)

At the end I get a Bmaj7 by playing the 4th string open and placing the bar on the 2nd fret for strings 3,2 and 1. The result is, using strings 4 to 1, B (root), D# (3rd), F# (5th), Bb (maj7). There's a ton of chords available in the key of B for the E13 tuning using open strings and for the C6 tuning in the key of G using the same barring. So you can get Gmaj7 on most any pedal or non pedal high or low C6th tuning in the same fashion.
I corrected the song title above and to be honest I was just playing it from memory having heard it on some Bud Isaacs tapes I had years ago ("I like that song you were attempting to play" moment and I guess the lead part should be harmonics).
