I recently purchased a 1955 Fender D8 Stringmaster off ebay. Pencil marking beneath headstock/tuner assembly reads "11-55" (November 1955). Have a couple of questions:
Would like to know if anyone has come accross other markings beneath the tuners like these(see pictures). They read "R+R 2097", appear to have been made with nail or other sharp object. Any ideas?
The original push button "servo" type switches were replaced with toggle switches(see picture). Also, the 'near' neck seems to have less output and a more treble tone than the 'far' neck.
The output on the 'near' neck seems to drop when the 'far' neck is switched on. The 'far' neck seems to have more power than the 'near' neck, with volume and tone controls staying at the same level.
Would like to get a more balanced tone/sound. Any ideas on what the issue is and how to correct?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Does the steel have the blend pots? If it does, you might try adjusting them., Norm |

yes, I have tried the blend pots and they help a little. I read elsewhere that the drop in volume as more necks are turned on is common with this instrument. thanks for the post. |

Stan; Volume drops on any brand when additional necks are turned ON! This is normal. _________________ <marquee> Go~Daddy~Go, (No), Go, It's your Break Time</marquee> L8R, jb
