The second annual show is in the books and was one of the most entertaining shows I have ever attended. Thanks to Country Jack and the Fiske Theatre staff. I apologize if I miss someone. The first ATTABOY goes to Austin Stewart I was amazed at his talent and musicianship, Austin can hang with any steel player I have ever heard. Granddad Jerry ain't no slouch either. Rob Parker was good as usual. Rob, my favorite singer, and a nice guy to boot. His steel playing ain't bad either.

First time I had heard Dan Rollens and all I can think of is wow what a player! His dad Ken, also present, taught him well. Stevie Sanford, what a picker! I love his style. Also Andy Hinton a multi talent. In the band was the legendary Tommy Fortenberry on bass, what else can I say! Mac Bellingrath great rhythm guitar. Mac you are invited back. Jimmy Cook on lead guitar, Sammy Matheny, Nicky Ezell on drums. Red Hall got in on the singin.

Got to mention Wayne Cox and the Dixie Rockers. They had the crowd on it's feet. Wayne was playing the Gitfiddle he designed and built by Andy Hinton, man what a sound! I'm thinking that is enough steel guitar for me.

Last but not least from Magee, Ms was Tommy Sullivan and singer Ashley Berry. Tommy is always a fun guy, he and Ashley worked well together.

The 3rd annual show is on the calendar for the 1st Sat in June 2007.

PS The catfish was good too!

Bill,
Thank you for the kind words..I really had a blast with all the pickers, singers, and grinners..Some great talent there...Those that couldn't ,or wouldn;t come , missed a great time of music and good food, and fellowship...the catfish buffet was delicious...
Thanks to all the workers that made the show possible..you did a great job...it takes hard work and dedication to put a show togrther..they had both...
Thank you for the invite, and I hope I'm on your " menu " for next year...

No problem Billy. We all had a GREAT TIME!!!!!!!! The show is a good one. Just need to get more people to come out. Maybe that will happen in time. That was the first time I had heard Dan Rollens too. Jerry asked Ken what happened to him & Ken. The youngsters are leaving them behind. They both have done a GREAT job teaching them though. Jerry and Austin enjoyed playing with Stevie again this year. That Tommy is quite a character too. Bet he has lots of stories to tell. Thanks to Mac and all the band. Thanks to Country Jack and the Fiske for having us and the great food. Hope to do it again next year. Donna

Thank you Billy. My son,Justin, and I had a great time in Oak Grove. The only thing that I found to be more interesting than the GREAT Fiske theater was the wonderful people of Oak Grove. They make you feel as though they have known you all yor life. The highlight of my day (and maybe of the year) for me was to sit side by side with Austin and swap steel rides. Man can that young man pick. It was very good to share the stage with Jack Harper again. Jack and I played together over twenty years ago here around central Arkansas. Jack's voice is still as strong as it was when I first heard him sing "Crazy Arms" when I was just learning steel at age 15. Thanks again for the invitation and all of us here at Steeler's Choice are looking forward to next years show.

Well I knew I would miss some and sure enough I did. Singers Harold and Betty Russell and my pickin buddy James Carter, James did a couple on my set and and then later did some mean Jimmie Rodgers. If I missed some one else let me know. I also forgot the thank Rob for singing "Blue House Painted White" for me.

Again, thanks to all the musicians and be sure all are invited back for the 3rd annual steel show. Country Jack promises a really big crowd for the next one.

Jack Harper and Billy Henderson -- my thanks to you guys for arranging and hosting such a great show.

All the steelers sounded great. Of course, Jerry and Austin can't be beat. I also enjoyed hearing Dan Rollans for the first time. Dan, you played a great set! And Wayne Cox put in a fine and distinctive set with his band, the Dixie Rockers.

Being part of the rhythm section was fun for me, and I particularly enjoyed Tommy Fortenberry and Jimmy Cook. That Jimmy is one fine guitar player!

Of course, Rob Parker provided the beautiful vocals we can always count on. And Tommy Sullivan was also just great. I had never heard Tommy sing, so that was an unexpected treat.

My thanks also for the delicious fish dinner.

Oak Grove is a picturesque town and the Fiske Theater was perfect place for the show.

All in all it was a great event, and I thank you for including me.

Mac
