first you have to set the barrel half way on itself so it has enough space to go sharp or flat
to do that you must undo the lil' allen screw that holds the barrel on the rod
(be careful not to drop & lose it)
slip the barrel off the rod - turn clockwise all the way till it bottoms out then turn the barrel counter clockwise 4 complete turns - this will allow the barrel enough space to go flat or sharp
put it back on the rod & tighten the allen screw
leave a lil' bit off space between the rack & barrel - don't fit the barrel up snug against the rack
once you've got all the barrels ready & set, tune the pedals & levers on the right in the winder w: an allen wrench

Regarding the barrel threads. You don't want to oil these, or the barrel will turn too easily and change on you when you don't want it to. James Morehead knows how to treat these threads so they have just the right amount of "sticktion" in them so you can turn them, but not too easily.
