Anyone have any opinions on this instrument. Worth the money? Playable?

You may want to ask Jim Palenscar - he was very helpful when I recently started asking about Weissenborn style guitars, including Gold Tone.

Gold Tone instruments are well-made throughout their product line. I've played a GT 8-string and it's a good value for the money, around 500-600 bucks depending on the store. It's kind of an Oahu Tonemaster knock-off.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

I'd agree with Herb. They're great instruments for the money, one of the lowest priced decent eight string guitars out there.
