I have a National D-8 and when I measure the resistance at the output It measures 2.2k on both necks. (less when both are selected). Could this be normal? My supro measures 5.6k, and most others are well over 5. It sounds good. A little queiter than the others but nice and clear. None of the screws look like they have ever been removed.

Thanks

2.2k seems very weak... I had a National D-8 years ago and that too measured very low resistance as I remember. Try measuring directly off of each pickup instead of the output jack.

When both necks are activated there will be diminished output and tone. That's normal. It's better to activate only one neck at a time IMO.

I measured right at the pick up (with it out of the circuit) and it measured 2.2k. Maybe it was a Friday at the Valco factory Very Happy. It's definitly not a rewind, and I can't imagine two pick ups failing in exactly the same way. I'm not going to sweat it because it sounds good.

PS. Doug, As soon as I pay "She who does the budget" for this guitar. Your C6th book is going to be my next purchase. I am working on "Valco swing" right now. Good stuff!

Thanks Frank, enjoy your National. It's looks like a very clean guitar, and as you said, it sounds good. That's the most important thing.
