Lloyd Maines has a hot solo starting at around 00:54 .... probably THE most electric steel-influenced resophonic playing I've ever heard.

And more of an expected approach on this tune but nice rhythmic propulsion ....

They played live in Sonoma County a few years ago. Unfortunately, Lloyd didn't do alot on the resonator. Mostly played standard guitar.

Old thread I know, but... I just found it so its new to me!

Thanks for posting those Andy, I love searching for and finding alternative Dobro stylings. As a sometimes pedal steeler/sometimes reso player I really enjoy seeing another way to do things.

In the same vein, here's a short clip of Randy Beavers playing Mike Auldridge's dobro with Mike on guitar....

Thanks for sharing that clip Howard. That’s demonstrating what I’d personally like to achieve and add to my playing. It’s what I would call “closed position fluency.” Not an open string in sight! Coming from a pedal steel background I often treat my reso as a portable wearable acoustic lap steel... I’m not beholden to the common mindset of open string hammer on pull off technique. Any more clips like this?
