I made the mistake of purchasing another Goodrich pedal from a member that I was told was only a few months old and had a good pot. You guessed it! The pot is noisy and I have to change it.
I have an old DeArmond volume pedal from 1971 and it has a AB pot that has R385 Type-J stamped on it. Any info on this pot? It is clear as a bell but may be a little too quick on the taper. The DeArmond pedal has a gear that turns the pot so it may be the gear that is making the taper too quick. Any info on the pot is greatly appreciated.

I don't know about the DeArmond pot but please don't blame the Goodrich boys for the pot. There was a bad batch of pots made by the manufacturer (not Goodrich)and the folks at Goodrich have been wonderful about making it right if your pedal was indeed only a few months old. The new pots are guaranteed for 1 million cycles. |

Point made Jim and you are totally correct! The pedal is a L-10K and the pot is a Canadian PEC 500K pot. I should have made that clear in my post. The pedal is fine and it's a component that's faulty.
That being said, I did manage to clean the inside of the pot and removed a great deal of black residue. It appears the pot was sprayed with some type of lubricant possibly in attempt to prevent the noise. After re-installing the pot it's working as it should. Hopefully that will prove to be a long term solution.
Thanks,
Dave |

Hey Charlie,
I heard it comes with a pencil and note pad that you're suppose to keep track of the amount of turns. But I could be wrong! LOL
I guess no one has any info on the AB pot that I have. It probably an ancient one as the pedal was made in 1971. But it's clear as a bell and sounds great. Great backup pedal! _________________ '92 GFI D-10 8&6, ‘67 Emmons Bolt-On D-10 8&7, Walker preamp, Sarno Tonic preamp, Tubefex, Stewart power amps, Carvin XT tube amp, Webb Cabinets, all vintage JBL’s! |

Chris, just to clarify the issue. The L-10K originally had a 10K pot and that was part of their marketing. The 10K would last much longer than the 500K pots. I don't believe this prooved accurate over time and Goodrich started using 500K pots just as they do in the 120 pedals. Why then are they called 10K pedals? Obviously that would required a great deal of change in the marketing and manufacturing and be very expensive. Fortunately I have this pot functioning properly for the present time and hopefully it will proove to be a long term solution.
I would still like someone to be able top identify the AB pot I have in the DeArmond pedal.

Chris, The first L10K I had lasted for years with no problems and had a 10K installed. I haven't been so fortunate with the last 3 L10K's I've had. But as pointed out by Jim, it's the pot and not the pedal that's the issue. That being said, I've noticed no tonal difference in the 10K versus the 500K pots.
