Thank you Roger, my friend Jody, Hank, Crowbear, Matthew, and Charlie. I'm glad you liked this song.
Charlie, my E9th setup is pretty simple - the standard A,B, and C pedals that everyone uses, I lower the E's to D# and raise them to F. Also, I lower the second string from D# to C# with a sort of "feel" half-stop at D. That same knee lever lowers the 9th string a half step to C#. I also raise the second string to "E". Basic E9th - nothing fancy.
A note about this song, I wanted to improvise/write a song in one take, so I just made this up as I went along and tried to remember whatever form it was that was coming out. There's a part that sounds a little like "Cajun Fiddle", and when I noticed myself playing that, I thought, "oops, better get out of this fast". This and the other recent songs were recorded one take only - warts and all - in the space of about two hours. |

Susan, I've always enjoyed your playing very much, regardless of the style. Your take on Alban Berg as well as the modern pieces I've heard have been inspiring. I commend you for your love of all music. I feel the same way about it.

Ricky, I'm glad you liked the tone - it was mostly the guitar itself (certainly not me). For this recording I used a 1974 Emmons p/p D-10 going into . . . a Maxon delay pedal, a Lexicon reverb, an Eden WT-550 amplifier, then from the speaker-out of the amp head, I go into a Lexicon 200, a Mytek A/D converter, then to a Digi-002 into my computer into Pro Tools 8 (I bet you can't say that all in one breath). |
