Was just informed by a good friend, Billy D. Johnson in Nashville that Billy Walker, his wife Betty, and two band members were killed in an accident on the way back from a gig in Florida. More details will follow shortly I'm sure. Worked many gigs with Billy W.over the years...a very decent, interesting and introspective individual who always put on a great show and carried very capable musicians over the years...hate to hear this.

Another great loss for country music fans. I loved to watch Billy on the Opry. A great loss for steel players for Billy used a lot of steel on his records. My prayers go out to his family and for his wifes family as well as the families of the two musicians. He will be missed greatly. |

Very sad! I played a few a few gigs with Billy in the 80's, and I just remember him as being the quintessential southern gentleman with a truly beautiful voice.
God bless Billy

From his "Masked Texan" days to stardom on the Grand Ole Opry, Billy was a class act and will be missed. May GOD bless, comfort, and keep his family always. Jody. |

We were rehearsing for the Missouri Hall of ame show when we got the news. I felt so bad for Ferlin Husky. It heart him deeply to hear of his friends passing. Such sad news...
