He has an Alumitone in at least one of his guitars, might have been the Williams. I didn't see the front of the guitar.

Thanks for the info. I'm having issues with the Bill Lawrence 705 pickups in my new Williams. Downloaded a new Live performance of Leisz and Bill Frisell. He gets some incredible tone from his Williams. Plus his playing is really stellar. Kind of steals the show really. So I was curious about his setup.

I have Lawrence 710's in my Willy and they sound great to me.

What kind of issues are you having with the 705 pickups? I have them in my New Williams and love them. They are a little bright, but just cut some treble off the amp, problem fixed. Just curious. I find these pickups have the single coil sound, or at least as close as any HB pickup I have tried.

They seem unusually bright to me. I play through tube amps. Through my 69' Dual Showman amp I have to set the treble at 2. Using my Goodrich Matchbox helps. I had a Truetone pickup on a GFI that I liked and which was not as bright. I also have a set of Tonealigners on my other Williams that are also nice. Both seem to be less bright than the BL's. Plus in a band situation the BL's get lost in the band more. Which is to say that they have less presence. Maybe they just take some getting used to though. I tend to favor warmer more round sounding tone and I thought I would take a chance on the BL's. Maybe they don't like Fender amps?

Try adding a few more mids to your amp. These pickups can definitely be warmed up through equalization.

I met Greg after Bill Frisell`s gig in Upsala, Sweden a few days ago.
He has a Tonealigner on his 12 string Williams.Had an Alumitone before. Aluminum neck.
Fender Deluxe Reverb.
Great playing.

Very Happy

Thanks for all the info. I replaced the Bill Lawrence pickups with Truetones and like them much better.
